How to book a private sunset ATV tour

What “private” actually includes, how far ahead to book, what sunset time means in Arizona month by month, and the three ways to get it on the calendar.

The short answer

Book a private sunset ATV tour three ways: online through the booking system, by calling (480) 837-3966, or through concierge planning for larger groups. Choose the departure that starts about two hours before sunset — which in Arizona ranges from roughly 5:20pm in December to 7:40pm in June, since the state never changes its clocks. Private departures start from $349 and are worth booking two to four weeks ahead in peak season.

The detail behind each of those choices is below.

Three ways

Pick the route that fits your group

Fastest

Book online

Choose the VIP private or sunset experience, pick your date, and confirm. You will see live availability, so if the date is there it is genuinely open.

Best for couples and groups up to about six with a fixed date.
Most flexible

Call us

Call (480) 837-3966 and describe the occasion. A private departure can start at a time that is not on the public schedule, which is the main reason to phone rather than click.

Best for proposals, birthdays and anything timed to the light.
Fully handled

Concierge planning

For larger groups, or when the tour is one piece of a longer itinerary, concierge planning handles transport, timing and the surrounding logistics.

Best for groups over ten and multi-day trips.
Timing

When sunset actually happens here

Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, so these hold steady all year while the rest of the country shifts around them. A sunset tour starts roughly two hours before the times below.

MonthApprox. sunsetWhat the tour feels like
December – January5:20 – 5:35pmCold once the sun drops. Layers matter; the desert clears fast and the stars arrive early
February – March6:00 – 6:25pmThe most comfortable light of the year, and the busiest booking window
April – May6:50 – 7:15pmWarm, long golden hour, wildflowers still showing in a good spring
June – July7:35 – 7:40pmThe heat finally breaks as you ride. Monsoon skies in July make the best photographs
August – September6:35 – 7:10pmStill warm, dramatic cloud structure, fewer people on the trail
October – November5:25 – 5:55pmPrime season. Mild, clear, and the reason people move here

Times are approximate for the Phoenix and Scottsdale area and shift by a few minutes across each month. We time departures to the actual sunset for your date — you do not need to calculate it.

Four things worth knowing

01

Book two to four weeks ahead in peak season

October through April sunset slots are the first to go, and private departures need a vehicle block held for you. In summer you can often book within the week.

02

Everyone drives, and nobody needs experience

Drivers must be 16 or older with a valid licence; passengers must be at least 8. Every tour opens with a full safety briefing and driving instruction, and a guide leads the entire route. Anyone who would rather not drive rides along.

03

The meeting point is out in the forest

Tours stage from the Butcher Jones area of the Tonto National Forest, off the Beeline Highway — a scenic drive from Scottsdale, Phoenix and Fountain Hills. Mobile signal is unreliable out there, so save the directions before you leave rather than relying on live navigation.

04

Cancellations need 48 hours

Cancel at least 48 hours ahead for a refund less the per-buggy fee. Private and corporate bookings carry their own terms — call and we will talk it through rather than leaving you to read the small print.
